By regularly washing with water, you can easily maintain the COLORBOND® steel and ZINCALUME® steel and prolong their durability and appearance, which will protect your investment. In general, areas that are automatically washed by rainwater, such as roof cladding, do not require this maintenance, while wall cladding under eaves, garage doors, and eave gutters need periodic cleaning.
Areas that are not regularly exposed to rainwater should be rinsed with a hose at least every six months. In coastal areas where marine salt spray is common or in areas with high levels of industrial fallout, more frequent rinsing may be necessary.
Steel Roofing Maintenance
If the regular maintenance does not completely remove any dirt stuck on the paint surface, the following process should be followed:
Clean the surface using warm water with a mild solution of pure soap or gentle, non-abrasive kitchen detergent.
Apply the solution gently using a sponge, soft cloth, or a soft-bristled nylon brush to avoid creating shiny patches.
After cleaning, rinse the COLORBOND® steel and ZINCALUME® steel thoroughly with clean water to remove any residual detergent.
Following these instructions for care and maintenance will ensure that your building components made of COLORBOND® pre-painted steel and ZINCALUME® steel will provide many years of low-maintenance service.
